FED: Wine exports top $1 billion mark
Australia's wine industry has passed its $1 billion export target 17 months ahead of
schedule.
In 1991, the industry launched an export drive aiming to achieve $1 billion in overseas
sales overseas by December, 2000.
Australian Winemakers' Federation president BRIAN CROSER says the industry is shipping more
than 670,000 bottles overseas a day, with almost half the exports bound for the UK.
